It is hard to remember the true meaning of the enemy, as one who makes our life precious to us. The opportunity to really pray for our enemies, not that they may reform or be in some way changed, but simply and truly that they may be happy and enjoy their lives, is one of the most valuable gifts our enemy can give us, because this prayer offers a rich field for self discovery. China, home to 1.3 billion people, is facing an enviromental disaster of almost unimaginable proportions. Nearly one-third of Chinese territory?50,000 villages and hundreds of cities?is plagued by ultra-rapid desertification. The danger is greatest in northern China, where large parcels of land turn into deserts every year. Deserts already cover 27 percent of the country. The situation is so serious, that the Chinese government is discussing moving the capital from Beijing to a safer location.

Southern California Edison officials say their 4.3 million customers can expect as many as 44 days of rolling blackouts this summer. May could be an especially critical month, because some power plants are routinely shut down then for maintenance.

Starting June 1st, they will give advance warnings of where the power will be cut off. They will give each customer a number between 1 and 114, that assigns them to a specific group and will print these numbers on customers? bills to let them know when they?ll be experiencing blackouts. They will also announce these numbers on radio and TV.

This is a very rare ability that up until now has only been shown in humans and great apes, according to researcher Lori Marino. Marino and colleague Diana Reiss studied 2 teenaged dolphins. They put a mirror in a small, round pool that was connected to a larger, oval pool by an open gateway. The mirror was positioned just inside the gateway so it could not be seen from the larger pool.
