An NBC Nightly News employee at NBC’s 30 Rockefeller Plaza headquarters in New York City has tested positive for the cutaneous form of anthrax. The exposure is believed to have resulted from handling mail that was received at NBC on September 25. The victim is expected to recover fully.

The suspicious envelope arrived at NBC two and a half weeks ago, and contained a white powder. The powder tested negative for anthrax. Envelopes containing powder that has been testing negative for anthrax have been recieved in many different locations in the US recently. Why a suspicious substance would test negative for the presence of anthrax, and a person who handled it would then become infected is not known.

This is a well-developed cutaneous anthrax lesion. In an earlier stage, the sore will be smaller, and the open area will still be covered by necrotized skin tissue, which will be dark in color. The lesion will not be painful.

Were you planning to go to the mall on Halloween? But not now, because a certain letter has appeared in your e-mail inbox, and you’re afraid?

If so, you’ve been frightened by what the FBI says is just the latest in a series of internet rumors.

Maybe these rumors are part of a plot to spread yet more terror, but more likely they’re the work of malicious individuals.

This latest example appears to have been originally sent by an employee of Volt Information Services in Orange, California. The employee, Laura Katsis, seems to have sent the letter to 15 friends. Since then, it has spread like a prairie fire across the internet.

UFO SIGHTINGS HAVE PICKED UP AGAIN IN THE US. Numerous UFOs were observed around the US on September 11, the same day as the World Trade Center attack after the grounding of all commercial aircraft. UFOs were spotted in Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Norway, and Japan. US and Britain attack Taliban in Afghanistan.
