Smoke from the collapse of the World Trade Center could be seen by astronauts aboard the International Space Station Tuesday from 240 miles above Earth. U.S. Astronaut Frank Culbertson, along with Russian cosmonauts Vladimir Dezhurov and Mikhail Turin, spotted clouds billowing from the collapse of the twin towers as they passed over the northeastern U.S.

?As we went over Maine, we could see New York City and the smoke from the fires,? Culbertson told NASA?s Mission Control Center in Houston. ?Our prayers and thoughts go out to all the people there and everywhere else.

?I hope that the people responsible are caught and brought to justice as soon as possible,? said Culbertson. ?But first, our prayers and condolences to everybody involved.?

Authorities in Massachusetts have arrested at least five Arab men as suspects in yesterday?s terror attacks launched from Logan International Airport in Boston. As with the earlier bombing of the World Trade Center, evidence centers around a rental car.

Authorities seized a car parked in the airport parking garage that had Arabic-language flight training manuals inside it. Two of the men who were arrested were brothers who had passports from the United Arab Emirates, and one of them was a trained pilot. At least two other suspects flew to Logan yesterday from Portland, Maine, where authorities believe they went after crossing over from Canada recently.

Yasir Arafat and the Taliban Ambassador to Pakistan have both condemned terrorist attacks on the United States. From Kabul a Taliban spokesman said that Osama bin Laden, the Saudi Dissident, “could not have been responsible for the attacks on the United States.” He said that “this could have been the act of internal enemies of the United States or its foreign rivals.”

However, Palestinian youths were celebrating in the streets in Israel, and there are strong suspicions that the conflict in the middle east is the reason for the attack. It was the most sophisticated and damaging terrorist attack in history, and must have involved the support of many skilled professionals, including pilots capable of taking over and guiding the planes to their destruction.
