We are on the road to creating artificial intelligence, despite the fact that we really don’t understand OUR OWN intelligence yet. Among the approximately 23,000 genes found in human DNA, scientists currently estimate that there may be as few as 50 to 100 that are unique to human beings, but they don’t yet understand what these genes do or why they make such a big difference.

Residents ofPhoenix,Florida and Germany all reported unusual lights in the skyon Monday night. The lights above Phoenix formed a U, then asquare, then other formations before disappearing. Both theAir Force and the FAA denied that they were aircraft. APhoenix resident, however, claimed that one of his neighborshad launched flares on helium balloons, which accounted forthe sightings. However, the neighbor who had allegedlylaunched the balloons could not be identified.

Ocean levels could rise by as much as 5 feet in the next 100 years, drowning major coastal cities all over the world. This is much more than the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) forecasted a year ago and could mean the end of island nations and low-lying countries such as Bangladesh, where 80 to 90% of the population lives within a few feet of sea level.
In BBC News, Richard Black reports quotes climatologist Svetlana Jevrejeva as saying, “The rapid rise in the coming years is associated with the rapid melting of ice sheets.”
