When we lived in New York, Whitley and I had season tickets to Yankee Stadium, and we’re still fans. Whitley was a fan when he was a kid, largely because a local radio station in San Antonio carried the Yankees Radio Network. In those days, there were no major league baseball teams west of the Mississippi.

Since I can’t get to any games anymore, I’ve gotten involved in watching baseball movies instead, and there are some great ones, with Bull Durham and, of course, the immortal Field of Dreams leading the league.

A spectacular collection of UFO photographs has surfaced allegedly taken from aboard the US submarine Trepang in 1971. The images could be any number of different things, including practice targets or dirigibles, but one of them, showing a large cylinder, is eerily reminiscent of one of the most powerful letters ever received by Whitley and Anne Strieber, which was published in the Communion Letters. Here, we reproduce the image of the cylindrical object, and the letter, which describes a similar object observed both visually and on radar by a carrier battle group in 1957, also in the Pacific.

Despite the retreat of Arctic sea ice not being as pronounced so far this summer as it has been in previous years, a massive heat wave is forecast to move over the Arctic soon, threatening to hasten this season’s ice melt.

According to emerging threats expert and sea ice analyst Robertscribbler, a combination of the heat from this year’s building El Niño being carried further north by the circumpolar jetstream, and a high-pressure system building over Greenland, are forecast to provide higher than normal temperatures, threatening to increase the rate of sea ice melt in the north.
