If you were born bad, mom can save you–even BEFORE you’re born! It’s hard to think of a baby being violent or destructive, but the seeds of violence may be planted before a child is born, meaning that attention to health factors as early as the prenatal stage could prevent violence in later life.
Nursing expert Jianghong Liu says, "Violence affects everyone in society and the cost of violence also has an indirect impact on our lives. As a society we should invest in better health care for early life–as early as a growing fetus–in order to minimize their health risk factors for violence. It is never too early to intervene in the development of violent tendencies."
Data from the Centers for Disease Control show that within the American population ages 10 to 34, homicides rank within the top three leading causes of death. The US healthcare system incurs $176 billion a year in costs from gunshot and stabbing wounds alone.
And bad health habits during pregnancy can lead to a fat future for the child. A new study offers the strongest evidence yet that vulnerability to Type II diabetes, which has become a worldwide epidemic, can begin in the womb. The study finds that when mothers are even moderately undernourished while pregnant and breastfeeding, their offspring are consistently found to be pre-diabetic before adolescence.
So Moms, EAT RIGHT, and take your vitamins. Scientists have identified an unexpected factor that may play a significant role in the development of autism: prenatal vitamins. A new study reports that mothers of children with autism and autism spectrum disorders were significantly less likely than mothers of children without autism to have taken prenatal vitamins three months before conception and in the first month of pregnancy.
In the June 14th edition of the New York Times, Roni Caryn Rabin quotes researcher Irva Hertz-Picciotto as saying, "Taking prenatal vitamin supplements even before conception is a concrete step concerned parents can take."
If YOUR Mom didn’t eat right, here’s something you should know: Anne Strieber’s famous diet book "What I Learned from the Fat Years" is now available as a download! When she found her clothes were getting too tight she thought they had all shrunk, until she realized she had gained weight due to Type II diabetes, a genetic condition that manifests in late middle age and makes it easy to gain weight and hard to lose it. She not only discovered WHY some of us have this gene, but what to do about it, and after three years of diet and exercise, she managed to lose 100 pounds–and YOU can too! This isn’t an advice book written by a doctor or celebrity, it’s a diet book written by a REAL DIETER, who sympathizes with what you’re going through that has helped thousands of people to shed those unwanted pounds.
