Thank you both for a wonderfully intelligent synopsis that is intellectually stimulating. A few thoughts:
Why are they on the fringes, hidden beyond being able to be defined? Mystery is stimulating: Answers stagnate. Humans seek to define them in human terms according to our illusionary material world view, but that world view is something they appear intent to grow us out of. Seeds germinate and grow in the rich organic darkness.
Abductions may be continuing full on, but only with marginalized people who would never report or talk about it publicly. This is an ever larger percentage of the population which is diverse in the reasons why they are restrained from reporting. Good jobs, successful careers, drug use, skin color, religious persecution, and many other factors combine with the lies of the government to allow unrestricted activity to operate under the radar.
Abduction is a taboo subject and so is sexuality! Cross pollinating planetary gardens and other scenarios aside, sexuality is a main feature not discussed. When two beings have sex, they are bound together energetically. Living beings are vast assemblages of superstrings glowing with awareness and in having sex, a cord of superstrings connects the two being’s souls forever. They know entanglement cannot be intellectually understood, but it may be experientially felt at the deepest level of our consciousness. There is a rich intensity in all this interaction which has primordial roots and speaks to the quintessential human journey of our souls spiraling along through life’s tree.

Answers often do not lead to stagnation, but to the next question, the next mystery, the next answer. This is what the whole scientific enterprise has been all about.
To some degree, however our science has been stagnating because of the egocentric nature of thinking we know things, or that we have a lot figured out, rather than that we have a slight glimpse of a minuscule portion of what is. Thinking we have something figured out stagnates. PSI? (research is conclusive, science is in denial); Civilization before the Flood (research is conclusive, science is in denial); Just two examples: Consider all the research presented by people on this site.which is not taken seriously by people who already know the answer and this is not what they ‘believe’. Beliefs in Answers stagnate.
We agree to some extent. Thinking that we have it all figured out leads to stagnation when one refuses to take new evidence in consideration.
Yes, to some extent. What is, is still far beyond our perception. It exists in higher dimensionality than our material world view which has been simulated by our senses and our mental processes. Humans live in a diminished reflection of what truly is, a mythology, completely blind and unaware of the greater part of what is.
I would like to mention the case from ‘Them’ of the man in the apartment who meets the woman in the downstairs apartment. Consider her power to completely manipulate what he was seeing for months. I believe She could have made him pass out and gotten seed at any time, with him completely unaware. As Jacques Vallée stated, it does not take many men to fill a seed bank with diversity. She wanted something else. If we accept the story, which is not alone in intimate reports, there is something much more complex going on. Perhaps it is all obfuscation. I don’t know more than that we really do not understand our place in this drama or our place in the Cosmos yet. I sense some profound revelations await us.

Not I! I expect the current materialistic answers to what reality is shattered and humanity to come face to face with the sentience of the Mysterious Cosmos.
