The Paranormal is Behind It All: An Anthropologist Blows our Minds

Guest host James Faulk from the Neon Galactic podcast interviews anthropologist and author Jack Hunter, a scientist with expertise in the paranormal and its crucial but virtually unknown connection to nature and its power. They cover Hunter’s background in anthropology and his experiences with spiritual phenomena, including his studies of spirituality and religion as they intersect with contemporary human societies and cultures. They explore the connection between anomalous experiences and storytelling, as well as the importance of a phenomenological approach in assessing other people’s experience of reality. They also discuss Hunter’s book, “Spirits, Gods, and Magic: An Introduction to the Anthropology of the Supernatural.”

  1. Can somebody please help me out? I’ve reached out 3 times in the past week for someone to update my subscription. I am a very long time subscriber, my credit card had expired, so I uploaded the new info and my card has been charged, yet I still can’t see the “subscriber only” videos and keep getting the pink box with the “there’s a problem with your subscription” thing. I see someone else was having the same problem on the forums and she didn’t seem to get any response. I don’t want to miss anything and I am not able to see/hear the full show. Thanks!

        1. Good news – Nikki has responded. Apparently your emails, along with those of several other subscribers had found their way into the spam folder. Apparently Nikki has now fulfilled all of their respective requests 😊

          1. thank you! and thanks Nikki, all is fixed. I’m back in the “family” again. All’s well that ends well.

  3. In a dialog with ChatGPT I got this analysis from it:
    ——————-
Hypothetical Probability Ranges (If NHI is Confirmed)
    Again, purely speculative but reasoned:
    Hypothesis = Rough Probability Range

    ET Biological Entities = 25–40%
    Interstellar/Post-Bio AI = 30–45%
    Interdimensional Entities = 10–20%
    Time Travelers = 5–15%
    Ultra-Terrestrials (Earth-origin) = <5%
    Simulation artifacts = 5–15%
    Spiritual/Mythological (as NHI) = <5%
Covert human tech = <1% if NHI is confirmed
    ——————
I do not agree with some of these, but number 1 and 2 make sense as the most logical. This is what AI gets by weighting various sources. I assume it gives a lot of weight to PhDs who are not experiencers, but are very vocal. It identified issues with recognizing disinformation, butthose remain in this statistical analysis.

      1. I jumped about from beginning to 40 or so: Charlemagne time frame has massive solar flare remains identified in ice cores and other sources with anomalous qualities. During such powerful EM events, human brains hallucinate. Without these scientific artifacts being discussed, the more strange hypothesis are hard to believe. I may listen to more.

  4. Thanks to both of you for such a thoughtful, interesting, heartfelt and intelligent conversation! You mentioned in the conversation that the variety of paranormal experiences are not just for special people, but for all of us. When I look back over my conversations with friends from school days up to the present, most all of them have mentioned having some type of paranormal experience in their lives. It is indeed very common but we do not often discuss it with one another. Again, thank you!

  5. Actually I think there is a difference between spirituality, and God Consciousness. There have always been warnings in the search for God, as opposed to gaining some spiritual awareness. Because if you see God, or become aware of God, then you may not want to live anymore. The Devine is just that overwhelming, and life may never be the same again.
