A video has been made of the moon that shows a ‘fastwalker’ or shadow racing across its surface. This is just one of thousands of unexplained lunar phenomena that have been observed over the years, but it is one of the best documented and most provocative.
In 1968, NASA produced a technical report on lunar anomalies entitled “Chronological Catalog of Reported Lunar Events” (NASA TR R-277) that recorded lunar events recorded from 1540 until 1967. Many of the most recent such events were localized in Aristarchus and appear to have involved hot gas discharges of some kind. However, in 1967, the crater itself was seen to become extremely bright. The crater Gassendi displayed frequent bright flashes and points of light. On June 17, 1967, a moving bright spot was observed crossing SE of Ross D, briefly obscuring part of the wall.
