While the US still keeps our UFO files undercover, Canada and the UK have begun declassifying theirs. France is the leader in this: it has declassified its files on UFOs and even has a website that documents over 1,500 sightings in the last 50 years. 25% of these cannot be explained.
In an interview for Agence France Press, reporter Marlowe Hood quotes Jacques Patenet, the head of the government UFO investigative unit (known as CNES), as saying, “Of the 1,600 cases registered since 1954, nearly 25% are classified as ‘type D,’ meaning that “despite good or very good data and credible witnesses, we are confronted with something we can’t explain.” He calls the website “a world first” for the study of “non-identified aerospatial phenomena.” Patenet says that many of the reports involve “multiple sightings?in at least one case involving thousands of people across France?and evidence such as burn marks and radar trackings showing flight patterns or accelerations that defy the laws of physics.”
