Anne Strieber was a wonderful essayist, and left behind a lovely collection in the form of Anne’s Diary, which ran from 2000 to 2015. In this final entry, written by Whitley Strieber, many of her favorite entries are linked. Enjoy this wonderful outpouring of wisdom, love, humor and humility from the founder of Unknowncountry.com and Whitley Strieber’s beloved wife Anne.

So sorry to hear about your loss, I think all of us have lost a friend.
This is heart-rending, but
This is heart-rending, but THANK GOODNESS we have this legacy, as well as many others, left behind by Anne to enjoy repeatedly!
As with another commenter, I too felt very comfortable in listening to Anne’s voice, and the information that she often delivered humorously was mind-blowing on occasion. I certainly will miss the interviews with experiencers, and new entries in “Anne’s Diary” – but we do have this rich archive in which to delve.
THANK YOU, ANNE, for all your hard work, making sense out of something that inherently didn’t make any sense, and your love and devotion to Whitley, your family (bi- and quadrapedal) and to all of us who came to depend on you for explanations of the essentially unexplainable. You enriched us all, and we are so very grateful!

“Remember, have fun no matter
“Remember, have fun no matter how much is working against you, and have joy!” Sage parting words, from an angel of wisdom.
Thank-you, Anne!
Thanks for this! I had to
Thanks for this! I had to read ‘First Love: Coe the Cat’. I certainly can’t prove it, but I swear the morning after Anne passed, Coe dropped by and connected with my Zoe. A light flickered, and I saw Zoe staring at something in my downstairs hallway, and I asked her if we had a visitor. I immediately went upstairs, logged in and found out about Anne. I have no doubt that Coe was her trusted guide, the path was smooth, and she had absolutely no baggage to weigh her down on the journey—her heart was light as a feather!
Thanks for compiling and
Thanks for compiling and sharing this, Whitley. It amazes me that through her obstacles and pain (especially in her early life, and in a completely different way at the end) Anne became a guiding light, teaching joy to so many people, as though grinding the thorns to crystal optics with a very clear vision of how that joy can be lived. You and Anne have shared so much of yourselves. I am grateful. Thank you, Anne. Have a wonderful journey. How could you not with the wings you have built?
“If the only prayer you said
“If the only prayer you said was thank you that would be enough.”
― Meister Eckhart…..
Thank you Whitley for posting Anne’s Diary and thank you for all you do for this website. God bless you Anne and do give Whitley a helping hand when he needs it.
Ecclesiastes 3:1…
King James Bible…
To Everything There is a Season…
1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
Hi Whitley! Thanks for
Hi Whitley! Thanks for making Anne’s diary archive available. I didn’t read all of her entries, just those that seemed to resonate with me. But I wasn’t a subscriber to the website until well after 2005. So I had the opportunity to read some of what she wrote before that time. I found her insights into some of her subjects very personal and informative. Anne’s insightful diary entries should be preserved for future readers whether they be subscribers or not. Richard.
Whitley, thank you for
Whitley, thank you for putting this together. I have remembered many of these diary entries by Anne. Such good memories brought back. I love her work, and yours too, Whitley. Thank you.
Thank you for posting these
Thank you for posting these Whitley. All very much worth reading if one hasn’t before, re-reading, and cherishing.

I am so sorry to hear the very sad news about Anne’s passing. My thoughts are with Whitney at this sad time.
I loved reading Anne’s diary and will miss her great stories.
Thank you very much for
Thank you very much for posting these samples of Anne’s diary, they take me back to when I read them in real time. I now wonder if these stories about Coe played a subconscious role in getting a Siamese cat for my daughter (the cat is 6 years old and named Si, with just as much attitude). It would be wonderful if the essays could be bound in a book. I will miss her perspectives.
Whitley, I am sorry I had let
Whitley, I am sorry I had let my subscription lapse. Learning of your loss today when I renewed, brought a deep realization that we all exist on this planet for so few years that we must cherish our time together.
Thank you for sharing everything with us, including Anne’s diary. She, like you, has the knack of reaching and touching many people with love and inspiration. God bless you and grant you the fulfillment of your life mission.
Whitley, my husband died in
Whitley, my husband died in 2008. After 20+ years of marriage, it took time to grieve and work through my loss. During this time I also lost my mother, father and younger brother. Thought I would never dig myself out of the deep hole I had fallen into.
It just takes time. And every day the memories grow more beautiful.
Anne touched so many lives. She will be missed, but she lives on through you and her own words. Thank you for sharing her with all of us.
