North America has been haunted by giant birds for hundredsof years, and now there has been yet another series ofsightings, this time in Nova Scotia. While scientistsdismiss the idea thatTeratornis, agigantic prehistoricbird larger than a condor, could still exist, two weeks agothey would have laughed at the idea of there being 125,000 undiscovered gorillas in the Congo.

Myles Rafuse and Goldie Stewart of Crousetown, Nova Scotia,both had encounters with a gigantic, coal-black bird overthe past few days. The creature ran at Mr. Rafuse from theroadside. It was at least two feet tall and had a much widerwingspan. As the bird came toward him, he moved backwards,slapping at it with his jacket to keep the wings fromstriking him.

Dr. Richard Boylan has produced a report saying that a large asteroid will hit the North Atlantic between 2:30 and 3:00 PM on November 15. As is our custom, we are recording this prediction, and, assuming we are still here on November 16, will report on the outcome. As 2012 nears, we can expect more of these apocalyptic predictions. Dr. Boylan has stated in his report, “There is an asteroid headed on a collision course with earth. It is 8/10th of a mile long and 6/10th of a mile wide.read more

For Olympic hopefuls and champions, their swim times boil down to years of dedication, hard work and sacrifice. For exercise physiologists and swimming experts, it’s a matter of statistics. But for the upcoming Olympics, the statistics are skewed because of the new high technology swim suits?which give athletes a boost.

The new bodysuits, which cost in excess of $500 and last less than a season, are bad news to swimming expert Joel Stager. If the new bodysuits improve performance as much as fans and manufacturers suggest, they represent a fundamental shift in the sport, one introduced by commercial interests, not the swimming community, because competitive swimming no longer will be about preparation and “humans against the elements.”
