Pollution really ruins the joys of life: we know that air pollution is making it hard to breathe and affecting birds (but in a positive way), and now it turns out that it’s reducing the scent of flowers as well!

Air pollution from power plants and automobiles is destroying the fragrance of flowers. Not only does this affect the beauty of nature, it also makes it harder for insects to find the flowers they need to pollinate but, as researcher Jose D. Fuentes says, “This makes it increasingly difficult for pollinators to locate the flowers?and the more air pollution there is in a region, the greater the destruction of the flower scents.”

Scientists don’t just predict a food shortage for the future, they predict a water shortage too?despite the fact that sea levels are expected to rise?and part of the reason may be corn grown for biofuel production.

A crisis is looming over water shortages worldwide. By 2025 more than half the nations in the world will face freshwater stress or shortages and by 2050 as much as 75% of the world’s population could face freshwater scarcity. There is a 50% chance Lake Mead, a key source of water for millions of people in the southwestern United States, will be dry by 2021, due to global warming.

Residents ofPhoenix,Florida and Germany all reported unusual lights in the skyon Monday night. The lights above Phoenix formed a U, then asquare, then other formations before disappearing. Both theAir Force and the FAA denied that they were aircraft. APhoenix resident, however, claimed that one of his neighborshad launched flares on helium balloons, which accounted forthe sightings. However, the neighbor who had allegedlylaunched the balloons could not be identified.
