We hear a lot of bad news, but there is some GOOD news too: scientists have found a cure for baldness AND they’ve discovered that chocolate may be more effective than fluoride in fighting cavities.

Researcher Arman Sadeghpour has discovered that an extract of cocoa powder that occurs naturally in chocolates, teas, and other products might be an effective natural alternative to fluoride in toothpaste. This will be the first major innovation to commercial toothpaste since manufacturers began adding fluoride to toothpaste in 1914.

The US government is trying to block sections of a UN resolution on global warming that will be presented at an international meeting in June. The US objects to resolutions aimed at keeping the temperature rise to a certain level and cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2050.

We have evidence of prehistoric dentistry and brain surgery. Researchers at the University of Manchester examined documents dating back 3,500 years and found proof that modern medicine comes from ancient Egypt, and not the Greeks.

They found the evidence in medical papyri written in 1,500 BC, which is 1,000 years before the birth of the Greek physician Hypocrites, for whom today?s “Hippocratic Oath” was named.

High consumption of trans fat, found mainly in partially hydrogenated vegetable oils and widely used by the food industry, has been linked to an increased risk of coronary heart disease. New York and Philadelphia have passed measures eliminating its use in restaurants, and other cities are considering similar bans.
