A study by researchers at Scripps Institution of Oceanography shows that the underwater world is becoming a noisier place, with unknown effects on marine life. They?ve discovered that there has been a tenfold increase in the underwater ocean noise off Southern California?s coast in the last 40 years. This has to be having a bad effect on marine species, especially those?like whales and dolphins?that communicate with each other underwater.

A gigantic meteor crater has been discovered in the desert in Jordan, suggesting that some terrible disaster took place in this area in prehistoric times. We know that an asteroid ended the world of the dinosaurs?could this asteroid have ended the ancient Sumerian world and given rise to ancient legends about end times?

Often these impact craters are too large to see from the ground, so despite having been there for millions of years, they haven?t been noticed. More of them are being discovered now thanks to NASA satellite surveillance.

A severe drought has been affecting the amazon?the world’s largest rainforest?for two years, but this has gone unreported here in the U.S. But the rest of the world is paying attention. In the New Zealand Herald, reporter Geoffrey Lean writes that “one further dry year?could tip the whole vast forest into a cycle of destruction” causing the rest of the world to become “hotter and drier”?in other words, a “worldwide catastrophe.”
