We know that during major climate change events,warming ocean waters cause cracks in the ocean floor to open up and release large quantities of methane gas into the air. Methane is an extremely powerful greenhouse gas, which results in even more devastating heat retention and dramatic climate change. But now it turns out that methane causes even more problems than thought.

During a great climate change event 55 million years ago, the excess of methane in the atmosphere had an unexpected side-effect. Large species–animals our size and larger–either died out or evolved into much smaller forms.

In her new diary, Anne Strieber writes: As I contemplate the newest media scandal of the bared breast at the Superbowl halftime show, I find myself with conflicting emotions. I did notice that a lot of the choreography was of the bump-and-grind variety, which didn’t seem appropriate for what is supposed to be a family event. I’ve long thought that NFL cheerleaders ought to put some more clothes on. I wonder if I’m being prudish or if I’m maybe even jealous?

Cell phones are now thought to be safe, although earlier models were implicated in cases of brain cancer. But new cell phone dangers have turned up. Some cell phone batteries have exploded while the phones were in use. And in rare cases, static electricity from cell phones that ring while people are pumping gas have ignited gasoline fumes and set cell phone users on fire.

We recently reported a possible terrorist incident in Texas where security guard Robbie House was shot by a Middle Eastern gunman who escaped, after the guard caught him taking photos of a huge ammonia storage tank. Now the FBI says there was no terrorist and the guard must have shot himself?but last year, they named the tank as a possible terrorist target.

The G2Bulletin quotes FBI’s Bob Doguim as saying, “We don’t believe we have any kind of a terrorist threat or that there was any way any kind of a terrorist planning or organization was going on with what occurred [that] night.” But local police think House may have stumbled into a “terrorist reconnaissance operation.”
