Global warming could put three of India’s biggest cities?Bombay, Calcutta and Madras?under water by 2020. There’s evidence it’s happened before: an ancient underwater city has been discovered there. It could also happen to us?if the ice caps melt, London, New York, Miami, Sydney, Shanghai and Tokyo could all end up under water.

Geoffrey Lean writes in the Independent about a German study that says the rate of climate change will soon exceed anything that’s happened “in the last million years.” If nothing changes, the West Antarctic ice sheet and the Greenland ice cap will begin to disappear, leading to sea levels rises which will submerge many coastal cities.

The stone circle of Avebury in Wiltshire, England, like the construction at Stonehenge, was built in prehistoric times. A 1720 map shows that many of the megalithic stones have been missing for hundreds of years, but now they’ve been found in a surprising place.

New technology has revealed that at least 15 of them are still where they were originally placed?they’ve just fallen (or been knocked) down and are buried beneath the dirt. This means that Avebury can be restored to the way it looked when it was built.
