Police saw a UFO in North Carolina and a man in Kentucky took incredible photos of a UFO with an “automatic” deer camera. Local UFO stories like these never get picked up by the national media, unless the UFO is shown to be a known object, like a flare or satellite.

Eric Olson writes in the North Carolina Herald-Sun that Durham police Lt. Morris Taylor saw a UFO streaking across the sky like a shooting star, with a green tail trailing behind it. “It was pretty wild looking,” he says. “It looked comparable to the size of the moon in the sky.”

Durham police dispatchers began receiving calls about the UFO around 8:45 p.m. Monday, and one resident even flagged down a passing police car to report it.

The mystery of the Eltanin antenna has finally been solved: it’s a sea sponge called Cladorhiza.

The “antenna” got its name from the USNS Eltanin, an ice breaking cargo ship launched by the U.S. Navy in 1957. On August, 29, 1964, while photographing the deep sea bottom West of Cape Horn, it took the famous Eltanin antenna photo, which has puzzled people for over 40 years.

The Cladorhiza is a dramatically-shaped sponge which resembles a microwave antenna. They’ve been described as “sponges with a long stem ending in ramifying roots, sunk deeply into the mud. The stem has nodes with four to six club-like appendages.”

UFOs were seen in Baghdad and Bahrain last week. The Bahrain UFO displayed strange lights for about a minute. Mohammed Jaffer al-Hajer was with six of his friends when they all noticed it. Al-Hajer taped the strange object on his digital video camera twice?once as it gave off a bright yellow light and again when it split in two before disappearing.

“We first noticed the strange light appear to the left of the Batelco tower in the village,” says al-Hajer. “We saw it again just above the tower when I reached for my camera and began to video tape it.” People in a nearby town also reported seeing the UFO around the same time. However, flight controllers in the Bahrain International Airport tower say the radar there didn?t register any abnormal activity at the time.
