After a long and courageous struggle, Anne Strieber died on August 11, 2015. She founded Unknowncountry.com as Whitleysworld in 1998. In 2001, she changed the name and expanded it to include what she described as "the credible edge of science and reality." She was its managing editor until January of 2015. Anne was also a novelist, and published three books, "the Cave" as Anne Matthews, "the Invisible Woman," and her personal favorite, "Little Town Lies," both as Anne Strieber. The current algal bloom being experienced along the Pacific coast is far larger than any previously recorded. They are cyclical and occur in the summer. The algae is extremely toxic. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, this bloom stretches from California to Alaska, is 40 miles wide and as much as 650 feet deep. It is believed to be caused by the fact that ocean waters in the northeast Pacific are unusually warm. Researchers are calling it "the blob."

September appears to be yet another doomsday month, so head for your shelters. Or perhaps not.

The latest doomsday prediction convincing the unwary concerns a comet that is supposed to collide with the Earth, this one with a near-future arrival date of mid-September. But what is the validity of this new prophesy?

Originating with an announcement by self-proclaimed prophet, Reverend Efrain Rodriguez, and propagated by conspiracy blogger Lyn Leahz, the prediction is that there is a 2.5 mile-wide comet that is emanating "hellish mystery sounds", that is on a collision course with the Earth, and will cause unprecedented climatological upheaval upon impact.
