This light appear to be emerging out of the Martian surface. One blogger, Scott Waring, says "This could indicate there there is intelligent life below the ground and uses light as we do." A stretch, but not impossible. Another blogger, Phil Plait of BadAstronomy.com says, "a subatomic particle smacked into the camera, leaving behind its trail of energy." As the image appears on more than one frame of film, this is impossible. A more likely explanation is that the light is a piezoelectric effect much like ghost lights on Earth, such as the Marfa Lights.

This interesting weathercam capture raises the question of whether or not there might be unknown life-forms in our skies. If such creatures exist, then the persistent undercurrent of ‘jellyfish’ or other seemingly living creatures in the sky would be explained. But then the question would remain: are they an Earthly evolution, or have they come from elsewhere?

In this enormous, deeply strange and wonderful universe, the answer is clear: unknown.

A skydiver in Norway taped a rock dropping past him out of the sky. This was almost certainly a meteor that had already burned out and was in dark flight. Your out there editor has been unable to find another video of a meteor in dark flight, so this is probably a world’s first. Quite impressive, and a reminder that meteor and asteroid activity is increasing worldwide.
