Over the past thirty years, I have often been the victim of social engineering. The first time I became aware of it was after the publication of my book Confirmation, which was critical of the Air Force’s handling of the UFO phenomenon, and what I viewed then, and continue to view, as an inappropriate adherence to secrecy. Just as the book was being published, a lie about me appeared in the Sunday supplement Parade Magazine, which was then a significant factor in the media.

This story claimed that I had discovered that I had temporal lobe epilepsy. It was wrong. When I called the magazine about it, an editor said that it had been given to them by friends of mine in the USAF.

It’s a day full of flowers here in Southern California. Evening is slipping down from a gentle sky, the light slow and soft, and I am traveling along the deep memory road.

I have been looking through our Valentines, Darling. I find that I have about thirty of them, going all the way back to the first year.

They draw me down the shadowed path to those days, recalling your bright voice in the eternity of youth and the magic that you spoke, and the deeper magic you said with your eyes. We were so happy, two little outsiders who had done the impossible: we had found someone who wanted us.

Hillary Clinton has told a questioner that she will "get to the bottom" of the UFO controversy. Her friend and adviser John Podesta said in a tweet last February that it was not only time for disclosure, but that "it’s the law." In September, George H.W. Bush said that "Americans can’t handle the truth." In 1988, when questioned about the matter, he commented that he was "very careful in public when dealing with classified information."

Once again, the media is trumpeting that the people carrying out the attack were "radicalized." And yet, they were a sedate married couple who left a six month old baby behind.
