The Controversial, Mysterious and Powerful Urantia Book

The Uranita Book is among the most powerful of modern spiritual texts. Like A Course in Miracles, Isis Unveiled and All and Everything, it has developed a devoted following. But is it, with its embrace of controversial beliefs such as eugenics and its discredited scientific ideas, really worth our time? In this provocative show, Urantia expert Dr. Sioux Oliva tells us about the truly amazing way the Urantia Book came about, and what can we get from it of value. What needs to be overl00ked? The other of these texts all also contain scientific theories that have been proven false. But does that make them worthless as well? And why, if they are indeed  messages from on high, is the science in them flawed? This provocative edition of Dreamland opens a door into some genuine wonders that are well worth exploring.

  1. I was reading the Urantia book in the 1980s until I came across a statement, in the Jesus section, that said animals don’t have souls. My experience with animals told me that this was false. So I quit reading the book. This thinking is common in some religions, which I think gives them the excuse to treat animals as objects. As a result, the cruelty to farmed animals has become extreme, as well as all animals in general. This is just turning around in recent years.
In the early 90s, I had a dream where love came pouring into me. It was like nothing else I have ever felt in my life. Some years later in looking online, the only thing that came up as an explanation was from the Urantia book. It was a direct infusion of love from the thought adjuster. It described exactly what happened to me.
So I guess it has to come from inside of us to determine which parts are correct and which aren’t.

    1. Animals have a lot of love to give, you only have to see them reacting to us or even to othet animals. As such I believe they have souls. Maybe they were created to show us how to show unconditional love.

    2. I had a golden retriever who died in early 2012. For two days, his “soul” stuck around the house. He brushed against me a few times. And i felt it. It was a very strange experience! And on the second day he jumped into my bed and I felt the physical sensation of that. When he was alive, I never allowed him to even sleep in my bedroom, much less my bed. I believe he was trying to get my attention. He didn’t want to leave me. That affected me, deeply.

    3. Re “animals don’t have souls”: even worse than that, some 17th century thinkers (Malebranche) thought that animals could not feel pain because they were just biological machines.

Dr. Sioux Oliva and Whitley. I am posting a dream that I woke up with this morning. Last night while in bed and after prayers, I said, “Tonight I would like to see a GRAY in my bedroom.” THEN, I thought about it for a minute or so and said, “I changed my mind, I would rather NOT.” So, this is what happened.

I woke up at 2:56 AM, looked at the clock and went back to sleep. Somewhere between that time and around 6 AM I had this dream experience. The dream woke me up.

DREAM: I am outside and walking down a sidewalk. There is a man bending over something that is laying face up, he asks me to take a look. We are looking at what looks like a GRAY ALIEN, all of the usual characteristics EXCEPT this entity only looks to be about two feet in height. I AM STUNNED. Is it dead? I get closer and see that the entities throat is moving as though it is trying to speak, it IS alive. I then ask the man why this isn’t big news?? Why is it just the two of us seeing this? I ask the man how he came across this entity or if he created it? The man does not answer my question.

Now I am entering a bus and being pushed all the way to the back seat. It is a long seat looking more like a bench and only one space left. I slide what looks like a trumpet case into a space next to my feet.

In the last part of the dream, I am talking with a woman. She tells me that she has many names but settles on me calling her Katy. I ask her if she would be willing to do an interview with Whitley Strieber? She says she would but the more I talk with her, I am feeling she would not have much new to offer in an interview.

  3. Another excellent interview. And thank you both for discussing the problems and positive points of the Urantia Book. And it leaves it up to us to use our wisdom and wise discernment as we work with the information in the book. Which is always as it should be.

  4. Back in 1978/1979 a man showed me his copy of the Urantia book. He had the book in his car and allowed me to read a few parts of it. After maybe ten minutes, he told me that I wasn’t allowed to see anymore because it was so secret and exclusive. I was very put off by his elitist attitude and never even tried to pursue any knowledge of it after that. Over the all the years since, I have come across it here and there and, for the same reasons, I have automatically disregarded it. I saw it in a second-hand book store not long ago and did not buy it because of what had occurred long ago.
In the spiritual realm, shamans discover that each of the great animal archetypes have their own place and all animals who physically die here, return to this source. Our cats return to the feline line as do lions, tigers, etc. Dogs return to the canine field of origin, birds to their family… then they re-manifest out of that archetypical place when they are re-born physically. I have had quite a few pets die and I know they are around me even now. I believe they have sentience and have just as much value to the Earth as we humans do. On YouTube, there is a video of Koko the gorilla who said “Something Shocking About Humans!”… and scientists have studied and marveled at the intelligence of the Corvidae family (crows, ravens, magpies etc.). I’m glad I didn’t read that stuff about animals in the Urantia book.
I agree with Kathleen that using wisdom and discernment is up to each of us as individuals to figure out what has meaning and what does not, and then apply it.
In David Wilcox’s book, “The Ascension Diaries”, he writes about the “Ancient Builder Race” and in “The Only Planet of Choice (Transceiver: Phyllis V. Schlemmer/Edited by Mary Bennett), there is information about how humans came to be seeded on the Earth and how very ancient peoples were telepathic and could travel instantaneously and bi-locate, among other things. It has been made clear to many Experiencers that eons ago, Mars was a living planet with occupants and it was destroyed in an ancient war. I wonder how much of this is reflected in what has been written in the Urantia book… probably some, in different words, varying terms. But, putting it all together, it adds up to something, because these main themes keep repeating…

    1. David Wilcock has gone completely off the rails over the last few years…have you seen his recent YouTube videos? In the last one he’s even talking about releasing a new fighter jet through a company he’s a Director of. What happened to him? Talk about a spiritual coin-flip. Twenty+ years ago, before I’d even heard his name, he emailed me asking about a picture I’d used on my website, as he wanted to use it on Divine Cosmos. I then became fascinated with his early work, and tried to contact him about it…but he ghosted me 😂 . In hindsight, it’s probably for the best!

  5. I read URANTIA when I was introduced to it by a much older friend. I was eighteen and immediately went to a bookstore and ordered it. I was told if I could get it, it would be on order and it would be on order for at least one month. I got a call TWO days later and was told I could pick it up. The bookstore manager was stupefied and told me he had never seen a book appear so quickly when on special order!
That was 57 years ago. Needless to say, I was immediately transfixed and remain so to this day.
The book gives the reader what she/he needs. No more, no less. It is remarkable.

  6. I remember in the 80s a friend mentioned it. He wouldn’t let me read it or borrow it. Turned me right off. Never really cared about it since.
