A Forgotten UFO Event that Actually Changed the World

What if the most famous UFO abduction case in American history is only a fragment of a much larger event?

In this episode of Dreamland, Whitley Strieber speaks with Dr. Irene Scott about the 1973 Pascagoula UFO incident—and the shocking new evidence that expands it far beyond  the abduction of two men on a fishing pier.

Dr. Scott reveals a hidden layer of the case: a massive, unexplained sound heard across hundreds of miles at the exact time of the घटना, multiple witnesses, and a possible connection to advanced nuclear facilities. Even more startling, the Pascagoula site may link forward in time to the USS Nimitz UFO encounter—suggesting a pattern that spans decades.

Was this a simple encounter… or part of a coordinated, large-scale event involving technology, intelligence operations, and something that understands time itself?

This is not just a UFO story. It may be one of the deepest mysteries ever uncovered.

  1. I can’t thank you two enough for this Dreamland. It was the Pascagoula event the set a 9-year old kid on the strange and wonderful path that is forced me to question not just my purpose in life, but reality itself. Again, thanks.

If I may add a few things. I remember two local news channels in New Orleans covering the event (WWL and WDSU). I wasn’t all that surprised, because even as a kid, I knew that Pascagoula wasn’t that far from where we lived. So it wasn’t unusual that they covered a report from the Mississippi gulf coast.

I was beside myself with excitement, and I watched intently as the story unfolded over several days. I was flabbergasted when a sketch of the being that supposedly abducted those two gentlemen was shown. Not a chuckle, smirk, or chortle from the news teams. It was taken very seriously. My life was changed forever. The images of the craft inhabitants that the abductees presented have been burned into my memory, even these 53-years later. I’ve yet to see anything like them since.

A couple years ago I stumbled onto a Facebook post from a person who reported seeing a very large silent craft hovering over the early morning skies in Metairie (adjacent to New Orleans). He, and the others at their school bus stop described the “ship” as being as large as an oil tanker. The sighting was within a few hours of the Pascagoula event, and about 100-miles west of that location. Coincidence?

There was a large Naval Intelligence building in the Bywater neighborhood of NO near the river. I’d seen the building a few times, each time it gave me the creeps…no windows. It’s been long abandoned, and I believe it was moved across the river to Belle Chase. Another coincidence? Possibly, but it does corroborate the extent of the US Navy’s presence in the area.

Lastly, my uncle worked at that shipyard. He referred to it as Ingalls Shipyard. He was an extremely intelligent man, and specialized in forensic accounting. He never mentioned anything about nuclear capabilities at the yard. But I was 9/10 years old…I just mowed his grass.

  2. 1973 to 2026 = 53 years”
“The 53-Year Shift: Every 8 years, the Venus cycle “drifts” slightly. After 53 years, Venus returns to nearly the same calendar date and longitudinal position in the sky as it was 53 years prior. For astronomers and ancient observers, this was a key period for predicting when Venus would “re-emerge” from the Sun’s glare.”

  3. I am so glad that you discussed the nuclear problem as well as ties to time. I have had similar thoughts. The tranche of UFO information just released by our government is a good example. So many of the photos and videos released are recent, and from the last 5 years. On top of that, the objects in the that same time frame are seen in various spots in the Middle East. (Whitley’s mentioning his warning about this war is key.)

In addition, I’ve thought that Whitley’s experiences that began in 1985 on December 26th were somehow aligned with the December 26,1980 with the events in Rendlesham Forrest (RAF Bentwaters). It could just be a coincidence…or December 26th could be some kind of time marker. I seem to remember that there were other UFO related events near or on that date, but they escape me right now.

Valle and Harris’s ‘Trinity’ is a very remarkable story that dovetails with all of this, and it shows how/why things starting picking up with UFO’s in 1947. The Trinity event happened in 1945. Without going into all the details, suffice to say it involved a crashed UFO which may have strong ties to atomic bomb testing at White Sands before the end of WWII. We can’t know any of this for sure, but what if an atomic blast has the ability on the quantum level to (violently) open portals between dimensions? What if it affects them, as well as us? I could see why they would begin monitoring us through time at specific markers in time for their safety, as well as ours. We always talk of atomic destruction just in terms of our planet, but maybe it’s not just us.

I wrote this this morning on Substack…I feel it’s important, based on this conversation that also involves time and nuclear weapons:

“I want to take a moment to mention Vance’s recent comment about aliens being ‘”demons”, and things going on in the Middle East right now. I’m not sure that it ‘just happened’ this way. I’m going into conspiracy theory now, so bear with me…just throwing it out there. Everyone was surprised when, out of the blue, we got into it with Iran, again, after our president said that we had ‘obliterated’ their nuclear capabilities last year. Of course, it was a lie. What bothers me is the far right Christian crowd and their beliefs surrounding Armageddon. The ‘final battle’ is said to take place (in the Bible, book of Revelations) on the Plains of Meggido. Meggido is in Northern Israel. Throw in some alien stuff and bada-bing-bada-boom all the ‘good people’ are taken up in the Rapture, leaving the rest of humanity to destroy everything. It doesn’t matter whether you believe or not, but a sizable number of Americans do. Vance was Pentecostal before he was Catholic—a faith very connected to the signs of the end times. Trump is Trump, doesn’t care about that stuff, but does care about being in charge of it all. In some ways, Trump would also seem to be an ‘Anti-Christ’ figure being somewhat guided and taking cues from Vance.

So, what timing that the UFO files are being released by the president. I’d seriously like to hear others’ thoughts on this.”

    1. Personally I don’t think Trump is doing what Vance wants him to do. I think his dementia is too involved for him to be that rational. I also don’t think that Vance is originating any thought as far as the convoluted interactions with the war.

        1. Decidedly so. To an epic degree that is hard for the rest of us to comprehend.
And since we’re both officers of the Grammar Police (To Correct and Serve)–
          *misled

I often wonder whether the fact that Vance actually has a working brain would make things better or worse for the world.

    2. I don’t know, but I deeply hope that They will stop any use of nuclear weapons, as They have already shown They can.

This Iran misadventure seems so nonsensical and surreal, but it is having massive effects all around the planet, including the unintended and wonderful effect of pushing more countries away from fossil fuels. It wouldn’t take much to convince me that it has some kind of cosmic plan associated with it…. I wish we didn’t always have to make such a horrible mess in order to learn something and get on a better path.

      1. Considering there have been more than two thousand nuclear bombs exploded, five hundred of which where airborne detonations, including two major notable examples with horrific, extensive humanitarian consequences, I would suggest we have no idea how low a bar has been set that might trigger an intervention…if indeed there is a bar. It seems to me that we are (or are being made to think that we are) on our own. We are like children holding a grenade. I just hope there are parental-like figures poised to rip it from our hands, should our attention wander, our grip loosen, or a dark mood take us.

I really, truly, deeply hope we are that fortunate.

  4. October 1973 saw not only the Pascagoula incident but the Watergate “Saturday Night Massacre,” the Yom Kippur War, and the scandal that led to VP Spiro Agnew’s resignation. Quite a month. Co-inkydink?

  5. Excellent interview, will have to read her book. The idea of the mental control is really a double edged sword for me, you can control to not do something or to do something. If the nuclear button is pushed what would they undo? If they keep people from pushing the button what effect would that have? If someone did a strike for instance would the enemy the instructed not to retaliate? Leaves lots of questions open. Fascinating guest!

    1. It doesn’t seem like They would even need mental control in order to stop us from using nukes (or make us use them, for that matter). They’ve already shown that They can control the machinery itself at nuclear sites.

  6. I can’t figure out why I don’t remember that gigantic boom in 1973. I was 13 and living in northeastern Ohio, where surely it must have been quite loud. Maybe we just shrugged and went on with our lives? I definitely wasn’t aware of the mass of UFO sightings at that time. (I was aware of Watergate and the Middle East war– I wasn’t totally out of it.)

Another of many things I can’t figure out is why knowledgeable, educated, aware people find it impossible to say NOO-KLEE-AR. It’s a simple word, really. Hearing NOO-KYOO-LAR drives me absolutely batty, especially when it’s repeated over and over as it is throughout this interview.

I’ve started to think that there may be something neurological or muscular, something in the mechanism of human speech, that causes this effect and that it’s more than just people not paying attention or making an effort to speak clearly, that maybe they can’t help it. Any thoughts?

  7. Sonic boons were common (caused by aircraft exceeding the speed of sound) until 1973 when they were banned over land by the FAA…what a coincidence! When I was a kid they were common, so, while jarring, it was no big deal. It may have been the same for you.

“Irregardless” drives me nuts, but I just let it go. It’s part of the vernacular in the USA at this point. It’s not neurological or muscular…it basic laziness and poor grammar.

    1. I think NOO-KLEE-AR may possibly be different from errors like “irregardless,” though. It’s pronunciation and auditory processing rather than simply a wrong word. That’s why I think it may possibly be a physical issue in some way. (Trying hard to give these folks some grace somehow!!

Some things in language become “correct” over time through constant use and general acceptance, but the mispronunciation of “nuclear” is just wrong.

    2. My thought exactly– I remember instances of hearing sonic booms in my childhood (though I never noticed when they stopped…)
