This week on Dreamland, we welcome Dr. Dean Radin to explore one of the most intriguing frontiers in consciousness research: the emerging genetic clues behind psychic perception. We dive into a recent study comparing people who report lifelong psychic abilities with those who don’t—and the surprising discovery of a subtle but consistent genetic difference between them. Dr. Radin explains what this means, why it matters, and how centuries of persecution against mystics and “witches” may have created the modern skeptics community. We also explore the deeper implications for human evolution, intuition, and the hidden capacities of the mind. Along the way, Dean discusses how these findings connect to the themes in his provocative new book, The Science of Magic.
Join us for a journey to the very edge of science, where data meets mystery and the unknown begins to speak.

Haven’t yet listened to the podcast, but am immediately wondering: might those centuries of persecution against mystics (including burning “witches” at the stake, etc.) perhaps have resulted in thinning out the psi-gifted herd? Perhaps psychic abilities are rarer today, and/or not as fully developed as they might otherwise have become by now, due to this sad culling of the gene pool by the superstitiously fearful?
Nailed it
I have heard of “The Scottish Second Sight”, also the amount of iron in Celtic blood was theorized as to why so many Celtic peoples were sensitive. I think basic blood work was done, but most was anecdotal speculation.
Has the community heard of such ?
Yep..an da shealladh…two sights, in Scots. I’m not aware of blood work or testing, but the British Isles, especially the people of Scotland and Ireland were different and more isolated culturally. (Hadrian’s Wall was about keeping the unruly Picts on their side in what is now Scotland.) Culturally, later Scots and Irish, while embracing Christianity, still retained strong cultures that still included some might call ‘magic.’ I’ve had my origins done genetically…No German, French, etc. or anyone from ‘the continent’. Scots, English, and Welsh,,,the odd thing is that my ancestors have been here in the USA for a very long time on both sides, and that’s the thing that blows me away.
Same here CL. Scots-English-Irish John Day landed in Jamestown in 1620. ( on ship’ log)
Add in being a military dependent and living around the world next to military installations…
mediations and a Gateway week at TMI
No wonder I had so many weird things happen to me ,I was primed for esoteric experiences!
I have also heard that childhood trauma intensifies the likely hood of high strangeness experiences. I had none of the abuse – unless moving every 2-3 year counts…
Jamesy…I don’t know how I missed this, but something told me to revisit, for some odd reason.
My first ancestor came to Jamestown the same time of your ancestor (1607), only mine was on the Susan Constant, also on the ship’s manifest, Edward Morish (Morris) and he was a corporal. My ancestor is buried in Jamestown and was from Wales. . (That first year was bad.) His son, left behind in Wales, grew up, made it to Virginia (sea captain), and his son was born in Virginia.
So, our ancestors probably knew each other. How about that?
I hope that you find this message…If anyone else does, direct Jamsey this way! 😁

That is fascinating! I did a huge research family tree project during Covid. My sister in law who is a reference librarian and forensic researcher helped me and insisted on double documentation where possible. Yes John Day came from Shropshire England to Jamestown and landed in Nov 1620.
(even weirder- my daughter and I stopped in Jamestown on her way down to check out ECU for college in Nov 2020! I took a photo of her by a cannon with her hair blowing and YIKES later realized that blood DNA was 400 years apart to the very Month and year!…So many WEIRD SYNCHRONICITIES HAPPENED DOING THIS FAMILY TREE!)
We ought to talk there is so much beyond the scope of this post!
So John Day is on the ship’s log as one of Yardley’s men working in the James river when the Massive Native American attack that killed 350 Jamestown members ( there is a list – John was not on it)- he is alive and his wife and kids had a farm on Hogg Island on the OTHER side of the James river. Later England gave each sponsored family member 50 acres if they came over . John Day sponsored 8 members and wound up with 400 acres near Glouster County on the York river! ( above James river) The Days drifted South and were farmers- then slave owners to NC-SC-AL-FL each time gaining more land due to military service (1812 & revolutionary) and land grants. My mothers people came in via Philadelphia and were quakers and drifted to VA – then NC. and the outcome of the Civil War left them all renters and in poverty till a descendant finally bought their own home in the 1920’s!
There is so much more to this story and stories of the research synchronicities and why I thought I randomly wound up 2 miles from were my mothers quaker ancestry Hannah Elben worshiped at Friends meeting house in Chester ,PA!!!! WTH? I never knew 30 years ago I came here for love & a job from NOLA. so wild about your ancestor – do me tell more and we should not bore everyone and move to a private chat :

On historic persecutions, the prejudices of some historical groups have definitely had negative effects on the psi abilities of some populations, but I think also of the heinous actions of the Catholic Church over a period of 500 years, encouraging the identification and execution of so many millions of women for supposed witchcraft. The Catholic church to this day has *never* apologized for that murderous history. As a woman, that church “baggage” leaves me struggling to trust the Catholic church, despite having received much training during my Catholic school education… baptism, first communion, confirmation and all the rest. Britannica online has that reference: https://www.britannica.com/topic/Malleus-maleficarum
Interesting to note that Jesus himself displayed profound abilities. If you read the Gnostic gospels, you learn that he was doing ‘miracles’ as a child, and that his own family had to deal with it. There are tales in the Far East that Jesus made his way there, and there is a huge gap in the Bible from when he was twelve until his early 30’s. So where was he, and what was he doing? Maybe he was learning how to discipline and use his ‘gifts’ with adepts in the Far East in China, Tibet, and Japan. It doesn’t make him any less special, and one of his messages was that we could be like him. After all, the Bible as we know was a product of the Council of Nicea. To keep the ‘faithful’, you must control them…you don’t want them getting any big ideas about themselves as living humans, but delayed gratification through death and heaven.
Hi, I don’t see an audio-only link for yesterday’s podcast?
The show certainly makes you feel like like reading Dean Radin’s books. A question on the analogy of the brain as a radio receiver: the communication is probably two-way, isn’t it (emitter and receiver)? For instance, some people can apparently have “downloads” of certain ideas. But if these ideas are out there available for download, it must be that some other people/entities put them there.
This was all so interesting…kind of mind-blowing! I’ve got other books by Radin, including “Real Magic’. For many years people have told me that they wish they could do what I do, and I always tell them that they can, but it does require work. I might also add that it may not be for them, because some things they might not want to know. I keep my turned off, mainly, but I do get ‘knowings’ out of nowhere that shake me up a bit, that I usually keep to myself. Now that I’m older and my physical self has changed, especially my brain interface, I oddly have more ‘control’. Yes, I get fewer ‘downloads’…and I’m pretty sure the communication is two-way in some instances. I began studying and experimenting with this when I was about 14. I am so glad that it has become a subject of science and real study, not just classified as ‘paranormal’. Things have come a long way since the days of J.B. Rhine!
Much food for thought in this talk.
I am not seeing any download links on my computer this week. I am running the latest version of FireFox on W10.
Thanks.
“I am not seeing any download links on my computer this week”
You should just plug it into the universal consciousness field. 🙂
Sorry for the bad joke, I could not resist!
I don’t see the audio links either. Tried on two different browsers–Firefox and Vivaldi.
I no longer see the casting symbol at the top of the video screen. I cannot watch the subscriber edition of the video on my larger TV screen because of that.
Yep still no audio links, only YouTube, and it’s now late Saturday.
Sunday and no links . . .
Dean Radin mentions that intention is an important part of magical skill. I also find that the emotion or desire you place behind the intention is equally important. The desire should be as strong as possible. It’s reminiscent of the movie Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, when Professor Lupin teaches Harry the Patronus Charm.
On Dr. Radin’s site, I found a link to this company:

They’re gorgeous, and one does not have to be able to find Diagon Alley!
Interesting website, Elene. Thanks!
Vinny…I agree. Intention and emotional desire are both important. And also like Harry Potter, the intention and desire should be for the highest and best good, and not for purely selfish or evil purposes.
Thank you CosmicLibrarian. What you say is wise advice. A strong thought with strong emotion behind it, can have magical results. All of us, myself included, should be careful what we wish for and keep our thoughts in check!
I am a subscriber but the episode does not show up for me to access
Dean Radin said he doesn’t necessarily recommend that people try to get in touch with NHI because it can be dangerous. This reminds me of what I heard on a recent podcast (by Kelly Chase, if I remember correctly). She said that for people who want to find out for themselves if the world is a stranger place than we are usually told, there is a relatively easy and safe thing to try. And that thing would be remote viewing.
I’m a subscriber. I emailed Nikki about this issue on November 15, and have received no response. I continue to have a problem with the subscriber video on YouTube; it no longer offers the option to cast to my TV. I can cast other videos from other channels, but not from UC. Does it have to do with a setting on your end, something that has recently been changed? Or is it something to do with YouTube? It happens on both my phone and my PC. I have asked here, on YouTube, and Googled it in general. No one seems to know or reply.
Sure would appreciate hearing back from someone about this. My subscription renews very soon; should I hold out until this is fixed?
Thanks so much.
It works on my Android phone, when opening the link using the YouTube app. If I select to open using the Chrome browser, I need to enable the ‘Desktop site’ setting for the casting option to appear, at the bottom right.
Also, something to watch out for…when I enable the ‘Desktop site’ setting, if I click the option to go full screen before casting, then the casting button will only appear after I move the phone 90 degrees, so it flips into landscape mode.
Good luck!
The thing that fascinated me most about this excellent program was that the typical situation is to have psychic ability, not to be without it. We need to keep talking about these matters and normalize them as much as we can.
I have found that many if not most people have had anomalous experiences, particularly regarding “dead” loved ones. They will say to me, “I’ve never told anyone about this but I feel like I can tell you.” Everyone feels like they’re weird and alone until these conversations start.
The study discussed here is not news, though. It’s from 2021.

Between this and the interview with Max Rempel, I have ben trying to understand some of the heavy science. I have them both on loop at work, so my concentration is patchy and some parts I am still missing, but I love this view of the human body and how it interacts with other energies.
