This theory is based on a comparison of autism with the weather records from three West Coast states: California, Oregon and Washington State. Researchers found that rates of autism were higher in children who lived in states where it rained a lot during their first 3 years.

How can this be? Since we suspect that autism is caused by a reaction to heavy metals in genetically susceptible infants, perhaps rain causes this type of pollution (often from power plants) to be brought closer to the ground, where it can be breathed in by infants and pregnant mothers.

The problem could also be that kids who are forced to stay indoors for longer periods of time during their early years could be exposed to more household chemicals or even not get enough vitamin D from sunlight. They could also watch more television that normal kids.

BBC News quotes autism expert Mark Lever as saying, “In recent years autism has been linked to factors as varied as older aged fathers, early television viewing, vaccines, food allergies, heavy metal poisoning, and wireless technology, to name just a few. Some of these theories are little more than conjecture or have been discredited, others seem more promising and are in need of further study. As yet, however, very few have been substantiated by scientific research. We don’t yet understand what causes autism, although scientists do believe that genetic factors might play a part.”

Researcher Michael Waldman says, “While many autism experts believe that the disorder is triggered by the combination of an environmental trigger and a genetic predisposition?previous literature provides few clues concerning what the important environmental triggers might be. Our hope is that this study will spur those in the medical community to investigate what the specific trigger might be that is driving our findings, so that countless children can be spared?”

Pollution causes more rainy days and it may therefore also cause autism. If we’re going to stave off disaster, we need to follow the right path and clean up our act here on earth. Don’t forget the wise words of that great pundit who said: “Mankind is trapped. I want to help you spring the trap.” “The veil between the worlds can fall. The undiscovered country can become your backyard.” “Your destiny, each of you, is to become all of God.” Help us keep the truth alive: subscribe today!
