Soon there will be no difference between man & machine – We’re already merging man and machine in order to help people who are locked in by disease or injury. To abductees with implants, this sounds familiar! Computer designers predict that by 2020, there will essentially be no difference between a machine and its user, to the extent that computers will be able to anticipate what we want from them.
BBC News reports on a new Microsoft-backed report on human-computer interaction and warns, “Without proper consideration and control it is possible that we?both individually and collectively?may no longer be in control of ourselves or the world around us.”
Not only that?according to pundits, the internet could soon become a thing of the past, with something called “the grid” taking over computer communications instead. While this could solve some problems, will it also create new ones?
This is based on discoveries by the CERN particle accelerator, which is exploring quantum entanglement, meaning that when you separate two particles that have been linked together, whatever you do to one of them instantly happens to the second one as well, no matter how far away it is. This could lead to things like instant communication with fellow gamers. According to the Times of London, the grid will “be able to send the entire Rolling Stones back catalogue from Britain to Japan in less than two seconds.”
The London Times quotes quantum physicist David Britton as saying, “With this kind of computing power, future generations will have the ability to collaborate and communicate in ways older people like me cannot even imagine.”
There’s also a NEW way to use our OLD version of the internet: Delivering speedy broadband service to EVERYONE by snaking cables through existing underground electrical connections and plumbing pipes.
The Times quotes Tony Doyle, technical director of the grid project, as saying, “The history of the internet shows you cannot predict its real impacts but we know they will be huge.”
