When Whitley wrote “Communion, he put our address in the back of the book and asked readers to send in their own ET experiences. Shortly after it was published, letter carriers began dragging huge, bulging gray bags of mail up to our apartment every day. This amazed me, since, although I believed in my husband’s sincerity, I was prepared to believe he had been somehow mistaken, but these letters PROVED that what he’d experienced was real! Most of the writers said they had purchased the book because they “recognized” the ET face on the cover. I gathered the best of these letters together in our book The Communion Letters. Over the years, we’ve received e-mails from some of these people, met others, and learned that one or two are now deceased, but no scientists have ever shown the slightest interest in the letters.

But due to a new article by James Deardorff, Bruce Maccabee and Hal Puthoff in the latest issue of the Journal of the British Planetary Society, this may change. One problem with ET/human encounters is that they rarely produce the kind of physical evidence that scientists cherish so much. Instead, most of the evidence is anecdotal. However, if we can convict murderers on circumstantial evidence, we ought to be able to acknowledge ET contact based on the same type of proof! What’s important–as I noticed when I read through the letters–is that every “experiencer” wrote about the same basic things, when it came to descriptions of the ship, the beings, and what they did, yet they obviously didn’t know one another. At the same time, each letter was unique, so it was clear no one had copied this information from something another person had said or written.

Astrophysicist Bernard Haisch says, “We are in the curious situation today that our best modern physics and astrophysics theories predict that we should be experiencing extraterrestrial visitation, yet any possible evidence of such lurking in the UFO phenomenon is scoffed at within our scientific community.”

Deardorff says, “It would take some humility for the scientific community to suspend its judgment and take at least some of the high quality reports seriously enough to investigate?but I hope we can bring ourselves to do that.”

I hope so too, because every week, we interview people who have had unique experiences, and Dreamland is often the only place where they can tell their stories without being scoffed at. But now they–and we–can be reassured, because some of the world’s best scientists say we are living in the midst of an ET world?that extraterrestrials are here. We have no reason to doubt experiencers–or ourselves–any more.

So let’s go on, and figure out who these beings are and where they’re from. Let’s embrace this knowledge joyfully as people on the cusp of one of the greatest discoveries it is possible to have!

And remember: You may meet people who deny the possibility that ETs are here, who laugh at what they call your “crazy ideas,” but the BEST scientists in the world think just like you do. They know they’re here.
