Want to give birth to a girl? Move to the tropics. It’s a good idea to provide your kids with sisters because experts say that sisters spread happiness in a family while brothers spread distress. But if you’re pregnant with a boy, you may need to stop wearing makeup.
Experts know that the birth rates of boys and girls vary across the globe, and people who live near the equator have more girl babies than people living in the rest of the world, and the chances of giving birth to a boy increase as you head south.
This may be due to hot weather or longer days, which could affect miscarriage rates and sperm quality. Or there may be some evolutionary advantage to having more girls if you live in a hot climate. The male fetus is more fragile than the female foetus, which is why more miscarriages are boys. Males are also much more likely to be autistic.
BBC News quotes researcher Kristen navara as saying, “The results could indicate an adaptive strategy employed by humans.”
Meanwhile, researchers who talked to almost 600 people discovered that the ones who grew up with sisters were more likely to be happy and well-balanced.
BBC News quotes researcher Tony Cassidy as saying, “Sisters appear to encourage more open communication and cohesion in families. However, brothers seemed to have the alternative effect. Emotional expression is fundamental to good psychological health and having sisters promotes this in families.”
If you’re pregnant, you’re supposed to forgo booze and cigarettes. If you’re carrying a boy, maybe you should stop wearing makeup as well. Researcher Richard Sharpe says that cosmetics, as well as some cleaning products, contain hormone-disrupting chemicals that can “feminize” boys in the womb, leading to birth defects, testicular cancer and low sperm counts. BBC News quotes him as saying, “Because it is the summation of effect of hormone-disrupting chemicals that is critical, and the number of such chemicals that humans are exposed to is considerable, this provides the strongest possible incentive to minimize human exposure to all relevant hormone disruptors, especially women planning pregnancy, as it is obvious that the higher the exposure the greater the risk.”
Three of your favorite women will be presenting at our Dreamland Festival in June. Marla Frees will be doing what she calls a “gallery reading,” in which she picks out people in an audience that she has intuitions about. She will also be available for individual readings. Anne Strieber, who last year at the Festival refuted most of the “accepted” knowledge about the alien Visitors among us, will this year give a sort of reading herself: she will answer questions from audience members about their UFO and Visitor experiences, based on the information she learned from the half a million letters that Whitley received after publishing “Communion” and she can tell you if other people have experienced the same things YOU have. She did this in Vancouver and can do it for you! Don’t let bad economic news and North Korean bombs get you down: we think there’s a great future coming up, starting June 16-28 in Nashville!
