…and nearly collides with it! – On June 8 in Wales, a police helicopter chased what was described as a “saucer-shaped” UFO “with flashing lights” and nearly collided with it, until the helicopter lost sight of the craft and had to give up the chase because it ran low on fuel. A spokesman for South Wales Police said: “We canconfirm the Air Support Unit sighted an unusual aircraft. This was reported to the relevant authorities for theirinvestigation.”
The helicopter was awaiting landing clearance at MOD St.Athan Military Base near Cardiff when the object camehurtling up at them from below after narrowly missing amilitary aircraft. The three man police helicopter crew isdescribed as “very experienced,” so they would certainly have recognized any kind of conventional aircraft. Several people on the ground also saw the object. BBC News reports that a retired Royal Airforcepilot who lives in the area spotted it out of the corner of his eye, then was astonished when it changed direction in an instant, as UFOs have long been reported doing. Another observer on the ground described it as like “nothing he had seen before.”
The Sun reports that the UFO headed straight for the helicopter as the crew tried to land and says, “the pilot banked sharply to avoid being hit, then launched into a high-speed pursuit. But he was forced to give up the chase as the helicopter?s fuel ran low?and the UFO escaped.”
In the Register, Scott Snowden quotes a member of the local police force as saying, “They are convinced it was a UFO. It sounds far-fetched, but they know what they saw.”
