Scientists are trying to understand the impending changes in our climate by studying what happened in the past.

When Whitley asked the Master of the Key why climate change will occur in the future, he replied, “Because air at the surface is getting warmer, the north polar ice is melting, reducing the salinity of the Laurentian sea. At some point, winds crossing this sea due to the increasing difference between lower and higher atmospheric pressures will warm the northern ocean so much that the temperature differential needed to pump the North Atlantic Current will not be sufficient, and the current will slow down, stop, or stop flowing so far north. This same mechanism always triggers ice ages, and would happen within a few thousand years no matter what. However, human activity has sped up the process of atmospheric warming, so the change will be sooner and stronger.”

Scientists say they have found the trigger for a sharp cooling 13,000 years ago that plunged Europe into a mini ice age, when a catastrophic flood unleashed from a giant North American lake dumped large amounts of freshwater into the Arctic Ocean.

Reuters quotes UK researcher Mark Bateman as saying, “We’re talking about a lake the size of the UK emptying very quickly. We don’t know the exact period of time but we’re talking about a catastrophic flood.”

At this website, we not only care about the past and the future, we also care about what’s happening RIGHT NOW that nobody else seems to notice! If you want to hear more about the topic that the regular media dares not mention, join us in Nashville in June! (and be sure to dress appropriately).
