First, it was all of the records from the Roswell Army Air Field between 1947 and 1952–all "lost" when the General Accounting Office investigated the Roswell Incident for Congressman Steven Schiff in 1995. Then, as part of the latest British Ministry of Defense release of UFO documents, it was announced in April that a vast number of documents concerning RAF Bentwaters, the site of the Rendlesham Forest UFO case in 1970 had been "lost" (NOTE: Subscribers can still listen to these shows). Now the Australians have begun to play this same game. They’ve also "lost" the most important UFO documents in their files.
After a two-month search in response a Freedom of Information request by the Sydney Morning Herald, Australia’s Department of Defense (DOD) says they can’t locate the files, which are presumed to have been destroyed. In the "Herald," Linton Besser reports that the newspaper was told that ”Despite searching these locations, the files could not be located and Headquarters Air Command formally advised that this file is deemed lost.” Previous FOI applications for similar files had also been destroyed, ”as is normal administrative procedure.” The Australian DOD has investigated a large number of UFO sightings from all over the country for decades, and classified some of them.
