Veteran UFO investigator Nick Pope has announced that he has been diagnosed with late-stage cancer and does not expect to survive the illness. “I’m afraid my diagnosis and my situation leaves no doubt whatsoever: I can’t beat it.”
“Unfortunately, it’s Stage 4 and has metastasized to my liver,” Pope said of his esophageal cancer, a terminal diagnosis that followed an examination into digestive issues that he was experiencing.
“While I know that it’s kindness and hope that leads people to suggest healers and supposed miracle cures, and to say things like “fight it”, and “you can beat it”, I’m afraid my diagnosis and my situation leaves no doubt whatsoever: I can’t beat it.”
Before he became known as a preeminent UFO investigator, Pope had a 21-year career with the UK Ministry of Defence, where he was “involved in subjects ranging from financial policy to counter-terrorism; from military policing to UAP,” according to Pope.
It was Pope’s three-year stint investigating UFOs for the MoD’s UFO desk with Secretariat (Air Staff) 2 from 1991 to 1994 that led to a career investigating the phenomenon after he left the government; in that time he became “a regular commentator on TV news shows and documentaries, as well as consulting and acting as spokesperson on various UFO and alien-themed movies, TV series and video games, ” adding that “the media called me the real Fox Mulder!”
“The things I’ve done; the places I’ve been; the people I’ve met; and the secrets I’ve been privy to,” Pope remarked regarding his work with the MoD, “I wouldn’t have swapped it for the world.”
But Pope described the “true highlight” of his life to be his “wonderful, beautiful and incredibly smart wife,” “a real-life Agent Scully” to his Fox Mulder, “a scientist, a skeptic and a redhead.”
“To everyone who’s followed me on my journey, thank you – and good luck with your own journeys. I wish you every success and happiness.
“It’s all been amazing, and I’m grateful for the things I’ve done, not mournful for the things that I won’t now get to do.
“Per Aspera Ad Astra!”

I heard the announcement of Coast yesterday and I would like to wish Mr Pope the very best. Nick has been a continuing source of inspiration for two decades in the discussion of unexplained UFO related experiences and his contribution has been immeasurable.
So sorry to hear this…he will be missed! May his passing be filled with peace…🙏🕊
Very sorry to hear this! I hope he has very effective palliative care treatments to make him completelyll comfortable, as that can be a very painful cancer. And I hope he is at peace with how much he contributed. He has certainly made a difference! Amazing fellow!
Welll done, Nick! Thank you very much for all you’ve shared with us in spite of the adversities you’ve endured! Bravo!
What an incredible life and what a remarkable journey Nick has had. I hope that he updates his autobiography with a new book of his journeys. So much has happened since then and he has been a HUGE influence in Disclosure and Ufology.
On a more personal note, I cried and cried, as I would do if it were Whitley or any of the OG Disclosure group (Dolan, LMH, et al), as we see them as friends even though they don’t know us ♥️
Nick’s cancer hit me hard as my father had esophageal cancer that he beat with an experimental process at Oregon University at the age of around 67. It saddens me that Nick doesn’t want to give FenBen or Ivermectin a go, that he feels he can’t fight it, but I also commend him for his courage to accept his prognosis. This is a personal decision that we all must accept.
At the age of 51, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Pancreatic Cancer that has progressed to stage 4. I’m sure Whitley understands having lost his bride Anne to cancer, all of the people with an assortment of things to try have been suggested to me as well. Ivermectin sits in my drawer should that day come.
Over 2 years later, my struggle with ‘Knuckles’ continues. I’ve named my cancer thus because the solid tumors feel like knuckles in my body. In another few weeks I am beginning radiation therapy.
Why one person fights and another doesn’t, what lies within that personal decision, I will never know, but I survived the Whipple, and Knuckles is getting another sucker punch very soon, and I intend to feel better after radiation treatment.
Being in stage 4 now, I know the indescribable, palpable fear that Nick must be feeling too at the thought of dying. He is a man With SO much grace and has led an amazing life. 👏
Nick, you’ll probably never read this, but You are loved by so many people, like me, who will miss your words and your light deeply and profoundly. What a life that you’ve spent to the fullest!
As You travel toward the inevitable, to that great Unknown Country, all I can say is – See you on the other side, friend, the bright side, the white knight side of love ❤️ and joy 😊 and peace 🕊. May Jesus’ Angels lift you to heaven on soft wings, and may your spirit live on forever. We WILL remember you fondly. 💙
I’m going to miss him. He was so bright and so kind. A real asset to our community. I wish him godspeed!
All: Please catch Pope’s ‘Alien Awakening: The UFO Reality Unveiled’. It is basically Nick Pope giving one of the most concise narratives of the phenomenon ever. There’s no great UFO ‘footage’, no government talking heads, no experiencers, just Nick breaking it all down in a way that only he can. It’s worth your time, and will serve his legacy.
I heard this morning that Nick Pope has passed away. May he be lifted by Angels and rise into the Blue of Heaven.
RIP Mr Pope.
All: Nick Pope passed on Monday, April 6th in Tucson. Linda covered it at Earthfiles.
Bless him…
