House Hearing Examines CIA’s MKULTRA Program as Lawmakers Call for Greater Transparency
The House Oversight Committee’s Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets is examining the history, secrecy and lasting implications of the CIA’s controversial MKULTRA program.
A House Oversight Committee hearing examining the CIA’s notorious MKULTRA program is currently underway, offering the public an opportunity to follow congressional testimony on one of the intelligence community’s most controversial historical programs.
The hearing, titled “Mind Control and Accountability: Uncovering the Truth of the CIA’s MKULTRA Project,” is being held by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform’s Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, chaired by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.). According to the committee, lawmakers are reviewing the history of the CIA’s MKULTRA experiments, the agency’s classification practices, and whether continued secrecy has undermined public confidence in government institutions.
MKULTRA, launched during the Cold War, involved CIA-funded research into behavior modification, interrogation techniques and the effects of psychoactive substances. Congressional investigations in the 1970s revealed that some experiments were conducted without informed consent, while many project records were later destroyed, leaving significant gaps in the historical record.
Readers who wish to follow the proceedings can watch the hearing live on the House Oversight Committee website. Once the hearing concludes, the same page will host the archived video for replay.

This is all so disturbing. None of it surprises me, but hearing these stories is just awful. I’m sure Whitley listened to this, so no surprises to him in what is alleged to have occurred at Lackland AFB in San Antonio. Obviously, that was the tip of the iceberg. It’s all quite evil…and I don’t see anything good coming out of this. I’m sure it will be business as usual for the CIA, no matter what.
The testimony on the NIH…I’m wondering, and worried about why they were included in this hearing. I worked in public health, and I found the line of questioning more than disturbing. NIH had nothing to do with any of this. Some people in the background were people I am familiar with in public health. You could see they were upset with it by their demeanor. Pardon me, but WTF. Talk about paranoia. (Just for the record, I’ve had all of the COVID vaccines and boosters, as has my partner. Neither one of us has had COVID.) I would like to know who brought NIH to this hearing, and why.
Thankyou, Cosmic!
I had the same WTF regarding the presence of the former NIH Researcher, particularly in regards to the Reos going at her with “Covid conspiracy” accusations. She indicated she was an expert on treatment of human subjects and thus may have had some keen observations on the kind of trauma the “subjects” of the CIA/Gottlieb/West endured.
As for COVID, for Heaven’s Sake! The vaccines have been lifesaving and the data on wearing face masks to prevent spread/infection by respiratory/droplet transmission is WELL KNOWN. It was as if the very legislators “digging into CIA conspiracy” were muddling valid concerns about MKULTRA with COViD Poppycock & baseless, non-science.
In my opinion, that serves to discredit the very concerns they have about the CIA.
Exactly! Garbage!
