As part of our ongoing series of new Communion Letters, “Jason” remembers being with a group of other campers who were led in a strange night time chantas a UFO slowly rose up into the sky.
He writes: For as far back as I can remember, I have had yearly reoccurring “nightmares” of a humanoid-like creature entering my bedroom wearing a wooden mask over his face. This creature would climb into my bedroom through my bedroom window and force me to spend time with him (I don’t recall exactly what specifically occurred during that time, though). The visits made me extremely uncomfortable and I distinctly recall thinking, “It’s that time of the year again…” on the mornings prior to the evenings when I would experience this reoccurring “nightmare.” I actually sensed that a “visitation” would occur 10-20 hours prior to the “visitation” itself. This continued until I was 12 years old or so, when I finallyin a fit of angerfought with the creature and threw him from my bedroom window. As far as I can tell, consciously, he has not revisited me since.
When I was 13 or 14, I spent the summer at an overnight summer camp in the mountains. My bunkhouse was on the top of a hill, roughly six or seven hundred feet from a mid- sized lake at the base of the hill. One evening, I remember being woken up in the middle of the night by a fellow camper I cannot recall his face. I was told to put on my shoes and to go quickly outside for a “special event.” Looking around me as I tied my shoelaces, I remember seeing other members of my bunk sleeping soundly. Once out in the cold evening air, I was greeted by a small group of 8-10 campers, the majority of which were not from my bunk. I remember feeling a strange, exhilarating sense of excitement as the group of us ran silently to the edge of the lake. We lined up side-by-side, all of us facing the tree-line on the other side of the lake, then we began to chant. I recall someone giving us instructions, but I’m not sure where those instructions came from. Our chant consisted of two syllables: “WEE,” followed by “BAH!” We chanted the strange phrase over and over again and were told to draw out the “WEE” and then follow it with a short, clearly pronounced “BAH!”
After several minutes of chanting, I spotted a lick of orange flame within the tree-line on the opposite side of the lake. At first I thought it was a forest fire, however it was moving. It rose above the tree-line and up into the air above the lake’s opposite shore. I remember thinking that the object looked like the sun itself incredibly rising up into the black night sky. My memories of that night go only that far. And the strange thing is, I remembered exactly what I’ve written down here the very next morning and for every day of my life since then; however, I never thought to discuss it with anybody until I was an adult. At that time, I just accepted the experience for what it was and never even thought to discuss it with the other members of the “group.” I would love to try to contact them now, to see if they share a similar memory of our experience, but I no longer remember their names nor their faces.
