A massive 29 foot tall wall has been uncovered in Jerusalem that engineers do not believe could be built today, even with modern equipment. The 3,700 year old wall has amazed archaeologists because of its huge size and great length, and it is probable that it is even longer than has so far been discovered.

CNN.com quotes archaeologist Ronny Reich as saying, “I don’t know how to do it today without mechanical equipment.” This is yet another mysterious ancient monument that baffles scientists, who can’t figure out how it was made. Some of the others in this group are the Great Pyramid at Giza and the Platform at Baalbek.

A huge system of caves, chambers and tunnels is hidden beneath the Pyramids of Giza, which could reveal the lost secrets of the pharaohs.

In Discovery News, Rossella Lorenzi quotes this week’s Dreamland guest Andrew Collins as saying, “Ancient funerary texts clearly allude to the existence of a subterranean world in the vicinity of the Giza pyramids. Indeed, Giza was known anciently as Rostau, meaning the “mouth of the passages. This is the same name as a region of the ancient Egyptian underworld known as the Duat. The ‘mouth of the passages’ is unquestionably a reference to the entrance to a subterranean cave world, one long rumored to exist beneath the plateau.”

Around a year ago, we reported on the discovery that two ancient pyramids may exist in Europe, but there was also some speculation that they may have been a hoax.Limited excavation of the sites has already been done by volunteers, who have discovered a paved roadway, tunnel entrances and large stone building blocks that may have been man-made. Aida Cerkez-Robinson reports in Yahoo News that Egyptologist Mohammed Ibrahim Ali has recommended that an archeological dig be carried out at the sites, in order to finally settle the question.

Bosnia’s leading Muslim daily Dnevni Avaz reports “a sensational discovery” of “the first European pyramid” that has been discovered just north of Sarajevo in Bosnia. According to the BBC, excavations at a hill above the town “have confirmed the original claim that this is Europe’s first pyramid and a monumental building, similar in dimensions to the Egyptian pyramids.” Since most ancient cultures built pyramids, since they are a fairly easy architectural shape to execute, this pyramid could contain amazing prehistoric artifacts.
