A New Species of Microbe Has Evolved for Life in Space Aboard the Chinese Space Station
A new species of bacteria has been discovered on China’s Tiangong space station that has adapted to the rigors of life in orbit, activating genes that help protect the microorganism from radiation and a lack of traditional food sources, with the genes responsible for these adaptations believed to have activated in only a matter of […]
Ironically, New Evidence of the Existence of Planet Nine Might Disprove the Existence of Planet Nine
A team of astronomers claim to have found visual evidence of the long-sought after Planet Nine, except that there’s one catch: it’s nowhere near where Planet Nine is expected to be, and if this find is verified, it might actually disprove a decade-old theory of the elusive planet’s existence. Although the idea of a planet […]
Science Under Attack Part 1: The White House Makes a Massive Funding Cut Request for NASA, NOAA
In its continued assault on science, the Trump Administration has issued a request for extensive budget cuts to be made to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, calling for Congress to eviscerate the science programs of NASA by half, and NOAA’s by three-quarters. These extreme measures could cripple […]
Astronomers Have Discovered a ‘Tunnel’ of Hot Gases Extending Out From Our Region of Space
Astronomers with Germany’s Max Planck Institute of Extraterrestrial Physics has discovered a strange interstellar “tunnel” of hot gases that stretches out for hundreds of light years from our region of space, a relatively empty pocket of space that the Sun is currently travelling through, toward the constellation Centaurus. Estimated to be roughly 1,000 light years […]
