Elvis Presley, Occult Master

In this absolute stunner of a show Whitley interviews Elvis expert Miguel Conner about Elvis as a brilliant, deeply informed and powerful master of the occult. Few people outside of his inner circle knew this side of Elvis’s life, which began when a blue light hovered over the family’s small cottage as he was being born. This most popular of singer and a true cultural revolutionary was not only a good and generous man, he was also a well read and deeply informed esotericist, in search of his own meaning. Tormented both by the isolation his celebrity brought him and his longing to reunite with his twin who had died in childbirth, he gradually drifted into heavy drug use and his tragic death at the age of just 42. Listen as Whitley and Miguel explore the hidden life of one of the most extraordinary and important people of our era.

  1. The dead twin was Jesse Garon — not Aaron as stated here. Aaron was Elvis’s second name.

Maybe the parents had the name Aaron planned, and used it for the surviving twin?

  2. I would have had a hard time believing Elvis was such an advanced spiritual being except that a friend I trust had met him and told me that. It was quite a while back that she told me this anecdote, so I don’t remember a lot about it.

I’ll have to ask her to remind me of the details, but many years ago she was working in Las Vegas and somehow ended up spending a couple of hours chatting with Elvis privately about spiritual and religious matters, and she was very impressed with his depth and intelligence I remember being shocked to hear this, as when I was a kid, near the end of his life, Elvis was being treated as something of a joke, a rather pathetic figure. My friend saw this different side of him.

I can only imagine that it was important for Elvis to meet someone who was not dazzled by his stardom, nor put off by his esoteric interests, but simply listened to him as a fellow human being who was able to understand what he was talking about at a deep level.

I’ve had this experience myself of a deceased person working hard at getting my attention, whether I liked it or not, because there was something he needed me to do. I have also interacted with Famous Dead People, so I have no trouble relating to that. It seems like this kind of thing is happening more often than most of us realize.

I was fascinated to hear that the wild sparkly outfits with the capes were meant as superhero costumes! That makes so much more sense out of them.

Also, after hearing all this background, it’s not surprising to me that there have been so many Elvis sightings. Elvis and all his fans are a gigantic energetic field, and why shouldn’t that fuel vivid visions of him?

BTW, a friend who also has mediumistic abilities was telling me the other day that a vision of Gene Hackman showed up in her house recently. It was very lifelike and detailed; she could describe what he was wearing and what he had to say. But she couldn’t understand why she was seeing him, since she has no connection to him whatsoever. The only thing I could figure was that so many of us New Mexicans got emotionally invested in the tragic deaths of his wife and him, which at first were a compelling and disturbing mystery. And it may have been simply that my friend happened to be psychically available.

  3. Mr Conner, I was skeptical going into this interview, but my doubts were ill founded. What an absolutely riveting conversation that posits some fascinating ideas.

A few minutes into the Dreamland, I was flooded with memories of several friends of mine that were obsessed with Elvis. We were all in our 20s, living in New Orleans in the late-’80s/early-’90s. Each and everyone of those friends saw Elvis as a messiah-like figure. Their attraction to him seemed almost like a cult, but it became apparent that they saw him as a spiritual being. I am not overstating this. His name was spoken with a reverence that I couldn’t understand.

Now though, thanks to you and Whitley, I see their behavior as something else. Those friends were, and continue to be, very thoughtful and wise people. I always thought they knew more than they were letting on, and it seems I might have been right.

EDIT: I distinctly remember several of them owning T-shirts that had an image of Elvis silk screened on the front. The image was stylized like a profile picture of Christ in prayer from the 1950s.

    1. I wonder, if you actually listened to the interview, and if you read our comments based on our own and friends’ experiences that support it, you might feel differently.

  4. I am a subscriber and am not finding the subscriber version of the podcasts. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    1. I’m logged in on my Android phone and can see that the streaming banner, both the MP3 download links and the YouTube video link are all working and linked to the 1 hour 32 min version. If you are still having issues accessing subscriber content, I would suggest emailing: subscribers@unknowncountry.com

  5. So…I posted a lot more about this interview and my own experiences…with Elvis, and even the connections to Bowie, Christoper Reeve…and Yogananda, and others. As soon as I hit “Post Comment’, the whole website went down. Not kidding. A lot of my other comments and Message Board postings have also disappeared over the last month or so, along with other subscribers here. With my condition, I can only devote limited time to typing with one finger. Suffice to say there was more not discussed in the interview.

  6. Really excellent and fascinating interview! It was interesting that he did seem to be pretty broken in some ways and being a Healer that was interesting!

  7. I forgot to ask I was wondering if there are more specific examples of what kind of healings Elvis did with people and if they were permanent or how he did them? Did he have a technique etc? Really fascinating and I really empathize with the Healer who can’t heal themselves!
